This Intro to High Altitude Gardening class is designed for people interested in learning how to successfully grow vegetables in our short growing season and high desert terrain. We will provide information and tips on how to get the most out of your growing season including discussing which crops can be grown, what is best direct seeded and transplanted, the tools and supplies needed to have a successful garden, and some basics of plant biology and needs.

This class is intended for those who have taken the Intro to High Altitude Gardening course or who have gardened in a high altitude setting for a season or longer. There will be a brief review of the basics, followed by more specific information about plant varieties, planting dates and techniques, irrigation needs, soil health principles, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring their specific gardening questions here for a Q&A session at the end of the class.
Planting Plans & Seed Ordering

This class will help folks understand the terminology around seed buying, including what organic, non-GMO, hybrid, locally adapted, and more mean. We’ll talk about companion planting, crop rotation, seed starting dates, planting quantities, and more as we work to build planting plans and charts for the coming season. I will also recommend seed companies and seed varieties best suited to our high altitude growing environment.
Garden Guardians Camp

Camp kickoff is perfect for budding environmentalists! Garden Guardians invites campers to explore how the garden ecosystem works and what plans need to thrive. Campers will dig into healthy soil, learn about the water cycle, practice plant identification and care, and discover the creatures that help-and sometimes hinder- the garden. Through hands-on exploration and play, children will build a deeper connection to nature while learning how to care and protect the garden.

Is your camper always asking questions, digging into things, and curious about how the world works? This week will invite campers to dive deep into the cycles and systems working within the garden. Through hands-on experiments and demonstrations, campers will learn about the water cycle, the life cycle of plants, the decomposition cycle, and so much more!
Nature Potion Lab Camp
June 22nd - 26th

Get ready for a magical week that invites curious creators and nature lovers to explore the garden in imaginative ways! Using herbs, flowers, and natural materials, campers will mix, mash, pour, and stir their own garden potions, teas, and sensory creations inspired by nature. Through hands-on play, campers will explore the scents, textures, and benefits of different plants while engaging their creativity and senses. This week blends science, exploration, and a little garden magic—perfect for young explorers who love to get their hands messy and have fun!
Garden Chefs Camp
June 29th - July 2nd

Put on your aprons - it’s time to cook! Garden Chefs invites campers to step into the role of garden-to-table chefs as they harvest fresh ingredients straight from the garden and transform them into simple, kid-friendly recipes. Campers will build confidence in the kitchen while learning basic cooking skills, tasting new foods, and discovering where their food comes from.
Garden Chefs Camp is only four days (Mon-Thurs).
Critter Friends Camp
July 7th - 10th

Is your camper a bug or animal enthusiast? Critter Friends invites kids to explore, observe and learn about the important roles of animals and insects that help the garden grow. From investigating worms deep in the garden soil to observing birds and their nests in the trees above the gardens, campers will learn that critter friends are all around us!
Critter Friends Camp is only four days (Tues-Friday).
Mystery Garden Camp
July 13th - 17th

Ready to become the next Nancy Drew or Sherlock Holmes? In Mystery Garden, campers will become nature detectives - digging, observing, and solving the garden’s hidden secrets. Get ready for a week that invites campers to utilize all of their senses to look beyond and discover the mysteries of nature!
Arts & Culture Camp
July 20th - 24th

This camp explores nature as art, and how creativity, food, and gardening shape culture locally and around the world. As campers forage and create art with natural materials, they will learn about the history of Park City and Summit County. Through hands-on gardening, cooking from the harvest, daily art and movement, campers will discover how food, land, and culture are deeply connected across communities.
Nature Engineers Camp

Nature is constantly constructing the world around us, so what better way for kids to learn about engineering than in a garden? In Nature Engineers, campers will design, build and experiment using natural materials and garden systems. Utilizing their creativity, campers will construct habitats, build irrigation systems, and so much more!
Garden Kitchen: Harvest Edition Camp

An exciting week to wrap up the summer and to celebrate the bounties that the gardens provide! Kids will cook a different plant-based recipe each day using ingredients harvested from the garden. This camp will provide a unique opportunity for campers to be involved in the entire cooking process, from soil to fork!
