We acknowledge ancestral and current Indigenous practices from Mesoamerica as we give gratitude to the land and plant seeds for the La Milpa: corn, beans, and squash. This gathering will be in Spanish and English. A sample of delicious, traditional food will be offered. Registration is required for this free event. Doors open at 5 p.m.; program begins at 5:30.

Looking for an activity the whole family can enjoy? You’ve landed on the perfect activity with Randi Jo’s Family Yoga in the Garden. We'll practice yoga poses for all bodies and learn fun mindfulness techniques. Storytelling and coloring too! All ages, sizes and experience levels are welcome (babies to grandparents). Please bring your own mat. This class is offered free or with an optional donation, but registration is required.

Garden Chefs & Guardians invites campers to step into the role of garden-to-table chefs as they harvest fresh ingredients straight from the garden and transform them into simple, kid-friendly recipes. Campers will build confidence in the kitchen while learning basic cooking skills, tasting new foods, and discovering where their food comes from.

We acknowledge ancestral and current Indigenous Maya & Mesoamerican practices as we give gratitude to the land and plant culturally-relevant crops that complement La Milpa. This gathering will be in Spanish and English. A sample of delicious, traditional food will be offered. Registration is required for this free event. Doors open at 5 p.m.; program begins at 5:30.

Pest & Disease Management Class

Join us at the Garden for an in-person class! This class will go over pest and disease identification and cover how to deal with those pests - including bugs and rodents - and the common diseases that affect our garden plants, using organic methods and incorporating Integrated Pest Management.

Get ready for a magical week that invites curious creators and nature lovers to explore the garden in imaginative ways! Using herbs, flowers, and natural materials, campers will mix, mash, pour, and stir their own garden potions, teas, and sensory creations inspired by nature. Through hands-on play, campers will explore the scents, textures, and benefits of different plants while engaging their creativity and senses. This week blends science, exploration, and a little garden magic—perfect for young explorers who love to get their hands messy and have fun!

From investigating worms deep in the garden soil to observing birds and their nests in the trees above the gardens, campers will learn that critter friends are all around us!

Presented by: Esmeralda Torres and the Lopez Aquino Family of Chiapas, Mexico, and Utah
Experience a cultural immersion into the Zoque-Maya chocolate-making tradition! Participants will learn the origin and cultural significance of chocolate, use traditional tools to grind cacao beans from Esmeralda's family farms in Chiapas into chocolate using hands-on processes, and taste traditional chocolate beverages, chocolates, and other recipes. This workshop offers space to reflect on the profound depth of ancestral knowledge and earth-sustaining practices, while examining the vibrant parallels within Utah's diverse communities, where generational wisdom is honored preserving ancestral recipes and traditional food preparation methods.
Class includes all materials and ingredients. Ages 12 and up.

This camp explores nature as art, and how creativity, food, and gardening shape culture locally and around the world. As campers forage and create art with natural materials, they will learn about the history of Park City and Summit County. Through hands-on gardening, cooking from the harvest, daily art and movement, campers will discover how food, land, and culture are deeply connected across communities.

In Nature Engineers, campers will design, build and experiment using natural materials and garden systems. An exciting week to wrap up the summer and to celebrate the bounties that the gardens provide! Kids will cook a different plant-based recipe each day using ingredients harvested from the garden. Preparing Your Garden - In Person Class

Join us in the Garden as we share best practices on how to prepare garden plots. We’ll learn about soil amendments, like compost and other organic materials, that can enhance soil fertility. Techniques using broadforks and other tools to loosen soil and prepare it for planting (especially important for our rocky soil) will be demonstrated and everyone will get a chance to try out the tools. We’ll also review some earlier topics, including planting dates, seed sowing & transplanting tips, frost protection, and irrigation best practices.

I will also recommend seed companies and seed varieties best suited to our high altitude growing environment.
