Friends of the Garden
Elementary Garden Camp
Join us this summer at Garden Camp β where children grow their connection to food, nature, and community.
Located at Summit Community Gardens, campers are immersed in our 1.5 acre space full of growing food and flowers, surrounded by nature, and nestled under the mountains. Each week, campers plant, tend, and harvest in the garden, then cook simple, seasonal recipes right on-site using fresh ingredients. Campers create nature-based art, investigate soil, plants, and ecosystems, and spend meaningful time digging and discovering outdoors.
Through this hands-on learning and exploring, children build practical skills, learn to care for the land, and gain a deeper understanding of where their food comes from, all while experiencing the fun and freedom of summer outdoors.
New this year, camp runs 9 am - 1 pm with an option to go Beyond the Garden exploring some of our most engaging community partners. Beyond the Garden field trips, from 1 -3 pm on select weeks, give campers the chance to connect gardening and cooking to local history, art, nature.

June 8th - 12th
9am - 1pm
Camp kickoff is perfect for budding environmentalists! Garden Guardians invites campers to explore how the garden ecosystem works and what plans need to thrive. Campers will dig into healthy soil, learn about the water cycle, practice plant identification and care, and discover the creatures that help-and sometimes hinder- the garden. Through hands-on exploration and play, children will build a deeper connection to nature while learning how to care and protect the garden.
